Discount by agreement

Only the provider's public feed plays a role in this approach. Learning provider and data consumer (LMS or intermediary) agree on how discounts are being applied to the publicly available pricing information. No EDU-DEX functionality is used in this form of communication

Use this approach when

  • The discount rules are simple and can easily be applied by the consumer of the public feed;
  • Provider and data consumer have ample experience in this way of working.

Since this option does not imply any EDU-DEX involvement, it will not be covered further here.

Bilateral EDU-DEX feed

A client specific feed in EDU-DEX format is transferred from supplier to data consumer. It will contain pre-calculated prices and possibly be filtered compared to the provider's public feed (if any).

Use this approach when

  • The discount rules or filtering are too complex to be described using any other option;
  • Provider and data consumer have ample experience in this way of working.

Since this option does not imply any EDU-DEX involvement, it will not be covered further here.

Discounts applied by EDU-DEX

Apart from its public feed, the learning provider publishes discount information for all targeted data consumers in a closed, i.e. key protected context. The feeds involved are only available to the EDU-DEX service; no other parties should be able to access them.

Use this approach when

  • The discount rules can be described in the clientDiscount format;
  • The data consumer wishes to receive all information (both public and specific, and originating from all its providers), accessing one resource.

A detailed description of the steps involved is available on this page.

Pre-calculated pricing

Apart from its public feed, the learning providers publishes program information specific for all targeted data consumers in a closed, i.e. key protected context. The feeds involved are only available to the EDU-DEX service; no other parties should be able to access them. The EDU-DEX service will send both publicly available information, plus data consumer specific program data with applied discounts, to each targeted data consumer.

Use this approach when

  • The discount rules can not be described in the clientDiscount format;
  • The data consumer wishes to receive all information (both public and specific, and originating from all its providers), accessing one resource.

A detailed description of the steps involved is available on this page.
